Well, I think it's hard to really define a specific set of circumstances that would require the ingestion of additional amounts of beer, but I think I can confidently tell you that there are certain symptoms that beer has shown promising results at alleviating in clinical trials, those symptoms being:

- Thirst
- Sobriety
- Wakefulness

If you do find yourself suffering with any of those, you could probably do worse than trying a dose of beer.

Trouble is they're all short term solutions. Long term answer is death.

What was wrong with him? They said on the commentary that it was a rib injury, but I know from painful experience that there's nothing that a hospital can do for broken ribs.

Edit: according to the manager it's a bruised rib and he'll be available for the game next weekend. I still don't understand why he went to hospital though.

At a guess, x-ray to see if it was just a bruise or a break. Like you say, not much the hospital could do, but would make a difference to recovery time and training schedule.

Fromm the perspective of the taste of my testicles, it's going to make it feel a whole lot better.

For you and the $50 crack hooker, maybe...

Also highly recommended The Strain, Guillermo Del Toro's first tv adventure with a big budget. Was on FX, nowon DVD.

Vampires but more like zombies as only he can create.

From his books but different enough to make each fabulous.

After being seriously impressed with Raid 2 I have decided the only thing to do is get all Ingo and watch gratuitously violent films.  300 rise of an empire was absolutely gash although Ava Green getting all naked and fighting wasn't all bad (as pointed out by other people) but it is not a patch on the original.

A film that has been recommended to me is I saw the Devil which apparently is totally mental, so I will give it a go.  I liked Oldboy up to a point (as that got rather OTT) but this one could be the one when I go totally fan boy.  Already after the Raid 2 I wanted to kick and punch everyone at work (although that could just be because I don't like anyone), so maybe this will get my juices flowing.

Bloody hell twin. Let me know next time you're coming down and I'll arrange a bodyguard or something.
Where were you when you got mugged?

Greenwich, walking back from the Comedy Festival at The Maritime to the station.

Thought that was a nice part of town!

Sorry to hear that.

I take it you haven't been drinking, at all, throughout this.

Made me think maybe I should start again!

I still remember 19 years ago at Ewood when we went there unbeaten in 25 games in the league when Bohinen came back to haunt us and wasn't exactly graceful in his goal celebration.

What was the score, Len Goodman?

3-1 tomorrow. Not saying to who.

I suppose it's about time for my latest update.

<voiceover> last time on dubya's medical marvels, dubya had had reconstructive surgery on his shoulder...</voiceover>

Turns out it was a complex 4 part break that nearly required a plastic shoulder, but the surgeon rescued it.

Since then, was in tha Lundun 3 weeks ago, mugged and hit on the back of the head by a blunt instrument. Woke up in an ambulance, covered in blood needing several stitches to my head. Then, last weekend, collapsed without good reason, again woke up in an ambulance on my way to A&E where I was diagnosed with anaemia (probably brought on by a fortnight of concussion and not eating).

Back home, on the mend, trying to decided whether to thumb my teeth at fate or simply f*ck it up the arse.

Take that, Death! Is that the best you've got?!?

So the pulmonologist is sending me away to an immunologist as he says that I have asthma as a symptom but doesn't know what's causing it.  They are ordering an endoscopy and a bronchoscopy to start with and if that doesn't work I am sure that they will find more tubes to stick in me.

I am currently quite fcuked off with the whole situation because no-one can figure out why i lungs are acting this way.

It could be auto immune, it could be a neurological nerve disorder or it could be that I've had enough of the human race.

Either way I thjink I am going to start drinking again.  Why the fcuk not?

Stupid world.
